São Paulo, also known as the “Little New York of South America,” is located in southeastern Brazil. It is the capital of São Paulo state and the largest city and industrial center in Brazil. The city of São Paulo covers an area of 1530 square kilometers, with the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast and the Paran á River and its tributary, the Rio Grande, to the west and north. According to data from 2020, the population of São Paulo is approximately 12 million, while the population of São Paulo state has reached 46.6 million, accounting for nearly one-fifth of Brazil’s total population.
